The State Board of Education's Committee on School Initiatives will continue to interview applicants seeking a Generation Fifteen open enrollment charter. The committee chair has announced that the meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Education Jobs Bill funding estimates posted

The Texas Education Agency has received a number of inquiries regarding the impact of the Doggett amendment to HR 1586, also known as the Education Jobs Bill.  The amendment creates additional hurdles that only Texas must overcome to draw down the $830 million that is allocated for Texas public schools, including making Texas the only state required to use federal Title I formulas instead of state funding formulas to distribute these funds to school districts.  A spreadsheet is now posted that shows the amount of money districts would have received with and without the additional hurdles put in place by the Doggett amendment.

TEA submits 10 percent budget document

As required, the Texas Education Agency has submitted a legislative appropriations request that cuts 10 percent or $260 million from the agency's 2012-2013 budget request.  The proposal is now available online at http://ritter.tea.state.tx.us/lar/ .

Accountability ratings released for 2010

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) today announced that 239 school districts and 2,624 schools received Texas’ highest accountability rating of Exemplary. Ratings for all schools and districts were released today.
